When I started Cutting for Business, I expected to occasionally get reader emails. Let me tell you – I get more emails than I imagined! Honestly, I’m thrilled to answer reader emails, and if I don’t know the answer to the question being asked I try to get the asker at least on the right track to finding the answer. Why am I telling you this? Because I never expected to be asked “Where can I buy “xyz” supply”. Just last week, I have received 18 emails asking some variation of where to buy certain blank products to embellish. I’m happy to share my resources with you, so I’m kicking off “Supplier Spotlight” today – which will be a regular feature – on Cutting for Business with: Where to Buy Wholesale Mugs. Future Supplier Spotlights will highlight strategies for finding wholesale products as well as specific suppliers and companies.
The easiest way to find a wholesale supplier of a product is to ask yourself:
Who uses this product in bulk?
So, who (what kinds of companies) purchase coffee mugs in bulk? Answer: Restaurants and hotels.
This leads me to a Google search of restaurant and hotel wholesale suppliers. You’ll find quite a few, and I’ll leave the research up to you to find your preferred supplier. Having spent 8 years as a restaurant manager, I will tell you that you should pay around $1 each for a standard 8oz mug, around $2 for an 11oz mug, and slightly more as the capacity goes up. If you have a local restaurant supplier in your area you can often barter for a better deal. Remember, your business will be more profitable if you buy wholesale supplies versus retail supplies.
