Last week, I finished reading Time Management Mama: Making Use of the Margins to Pursue your Passions by authors and fellow bloggers Sarah Korhnak and Beth Anne Schwamberger. I found the book mentioned on Instagram and decided to check it out – since time management isn’t my strongest skill. Before reading the book, my time management strategies were based loosely around a schedule that I had hanging on the fridge. Some days, I accomplished some of it – other days were better. Through the ideas and suggestions in Time Management Mama: Making Use of the Margins to Pursue your Passions, my days are organized into time blocks so I am no longer trying to figure out what I need to get done. More importantly, the book helped me identify and prioritize my goals into smaller tasks that I could schedule and then complete.

What the book is: A quick and easy read that will take you between 2-3 hours to complete. The book features a few interactive worksheets to help you define both your personal and business goals and then prioritize them. The book partners with The Brilliant Business Planner, which encourages you to write down everything (if you don’t you are wasting brain power!) and gives you space to record weekly to-do lists, product ideas, sales numbers, financial summaries, and much more. The planner is well designed and features ample space for planning.

Who the book is written for: Women like us – home based entrepreneurs with a drive to succeed, who also juggle maintaining a home and kids. You won’t find strategies for maximizing your productivity while sitting in your corner office cubicle. Instead, the authors keep it realistic – they realize you may have to stop everything to pick up that smashed PB&J sandwich from the floor. All of the suggestions in the book are actionable for busy moms, and show you ways to find the time to build your business without sacrificing your family.

The tone of the book: The tone of Time Management Mama: Making Use of the Margins to Pursue your Passions is casual and it reminds me of sitting down with a good friend for coffee. The authors do not push their methods on you, but rather illustrate their methods through real life examples.

Who should read it: Any mom who is trying to build their home-based business. Whether you are trying to find time to fit everything in, could use more organization in your life, or just want to learn to make the most of your time – I think you’ll find it here.

How to get it: Time Management Mama: Making Use of the Margins to Pursue your Passions is available as a Kindle ebook from Amazon.com. It is currently $5.99. However, if you are an Amazon Prime member, you can check it out from the Kindle owners’ lending library for free. After purchasing the book, you will receive access to the private Brilliant Business Moms Community where you can interact with both the authors and other “Time Managing Mamas”. The Brilliant Business Planner is available for $45 directly from the authors at their website Brilliant Business Moms – I think so highly of it, I got out my custom engraved pen and pencil set my husband gave me to write in it!

I'm definitely going to have to check this out. Time management is my weak point Lol. I find my schedule consists of 2 REALLY long days... Then the rest of the week is "I'll work if I feel like it". I guess that's not so bad but I wouldn't mind doing shorter days.

Fefe, I struggle with time management as well, and will get caught up in projects and forget about anything else - so nothing gets done. By using time blocking, I am able to get more done in less time. Definitely a must read book and planner! I'm writing this in my email/social media/comments time block! :)

I loved the book and the planner is awesome. It's with me all the time! Keeps me focused on my most important goals for the week. It was thoughtfully laid out and perfectly suits my personal and business planning needs.

Did I say I love it?

Awesome Lauree! I agree and I glad you love it, too! I carry my TBBP everywhere I go. The best thing is that it centralizes both personal and business tasks. Happy planning!
