Pinterest: What You Need to Know About Showcases & Sections

Recently, Pinterest has taken user feedback about needing sections in profiles and boards to make them more organized. There’s actually two different new features within Pinterest that we are going to look at today. And, I’m going to share how you can best use them both in your Silhouette or Cricut small business.

Pinterest Showcases

The first of Pinterest’s new section features is the Pinterest Showcase. The showcase area allows you to select up to 5 boards that will be placed in a rotating slideshow at the top of your Pinterest profile. How to Set Up the Pinterest Showcase

Once logged into Pinterest, navigate to pinterest.com/showcase/settings/. You’ll be able to select up to 5 boards to be shown in your showcase. How to Best Use the Pinterest Showcase in Your Silhouette or Cricut Business

When planning the Pinterest Showcase for your Silhouette or Cricut business, first, realize that this is the first thing that customers will see when they visit your Pinterest profile. There’s a few different ways that I recommend using your Showcase:

  • Put your best board(s) (ones that link to your business and your products) in your Showcase.
  • Create a board of seasonal products for sale in your small business and add it to your Showcase. Remember to regularly change it out as the seasons/holidays change.
  • Consider adding a board of items that are on sale in your business. Add this board to your Showcase and regularly update it.
  • Create a board of Buyable Pins, if you use them on Pinterest, and add the board to your Showcase.

Now that we’ve covered Pinterest’s Showcases, I should mention that they are only available in Pinterest Business accounts.

Now, onto board sections!

Pinterest Board Sections

Unlike Pinterest Showcases, Pinterest board sections are available to both personal and business Pinterest accounts. Also unlike Pinterest Showcases, Pinterest board sections are used for you to organize your boards and show off a few top pins from your boards.

Pinterest board sections appear at the top of your boards, not your profile. Here’s a look at what they look like: Pinterest Sections: What You Need to Know About This New Feature for Your Silhouette or Cricut Small Business - by cuttingforbusiness.com

How to Best Use the Pinterest Showcase in Your Silhouette or Cricut Business

As I mentioned above, Pinterest board sections are a way to keep yourself organized and keep important or popular pins front and center on your boards. You can use them in the same way that you use Pinterest Showcases.

So that’s it. Pinterest listened to users and gave us two different ways to organize our profiles and boards.
