Buyable Pins on Pinterest – The What and How

Huge news came out on June 2nd, 2015 when Pinterest officially announced Buyable Pins, which allows Pinterest users to buy products without ever leaving Pinterest. For Silhouette Cameo or Cricut users with small businesses, I think this is awesome news!

It looks like Buyable Pins will first launch on the Pinterest App for both iPhone and iPad. Pinterest has added a blue button “Buy It” next to the “Pin It” button on individual pins. After clicking the Buy It button, Pinterest users will checkout within the app. Pinterest notes that they will not be taking a cut from your sale and you’ll still be responsible for shipping the items and customer service.

In similar fashion to other Pinterest launches, the launch of Buyable Pins is limited. But, if you use Shopify to power your online store, you can start selling through Buyable Pins immediately! I’ve recommended Shopify on this blog when I shared a tutorial for creating a store right on your Facebook Business Page.

The Next Steps

If you want to sign up with Shopify (they offer a free trial) and be among the first sellers to start selling to millions of Pinterest users you can start using Buyable Pins immediately, click here.

I’m super excited for Pinterest’s Buyable Pins, because DIY and crafty pins perform well on Pinterest. I expect that Pinterest’s Buyable Pins will make selling your Silhouette or Cricut products even easier. I will be writing more articles on Pinterest’s Buyable Pins once more information is available. Sign up on the left to get all of my posts right in your inbox, or follow me on Facebook.
