Remember that post on mind dumping from yesterday? This is one of the projects that I’ve had in my idea book forever. I thought it would be neat to have an Etsy shop called “Morse Cards” and make a line of Morse Code cards. My idea was inspired by all the Morse Code jewelry over on Etsy. If you have seen these, click here to view one of my favorite shops. To create your own Morse Code card using a Silhouette Cameo, continue on.

Supplies Needed

Step by Step Tutorial

  1. Use print and cut to first print the pull tab insert and the design on the front. The message on the cut file included below is “I love you” To create your own message use the middle dot (Option and 8 on a Mac or ALT 0183 on Windows) and hypens to create each letter. DIY Morse Code Valentine's Cards for Silhouette Cameo (Includes free cut files!) by cuttingforbusiness.com

Hi, Christine. Thank you for this Morse Code Cut File. My granddaughter and I recently read a book about coded messages. I love making cards with her. I think we will enjoy making Valentine's Day Cards for her class using your Free Cut File. I will challenge her to make up some of her own sayings and we'll try to make the codes together for a few of them. Thanks again. This is a great teaching tool for both of us.

At Christmas, my daughter gave me a Morse Code Necklace (decoded it said "Mother"). I love it. It's a fabulous idea to make cards using the Morse Code too Christine. Love your Valentine Card and it's a great tute.

Hi! Thanks for this great cut file and tutorial! I would like to make a more personalized card for my husband though. Can you explain (alt 0183) or the middle dot. I'm not following along.

Sure, Janet. Rather than use a period to make the dots, you have to use a middle dot. (A period would sit along the bottom line, while a middle dot sits nicely next to your hyphen. Unfortunately, there is no key on keyboards to type a middle dot. To get one on Windows, hold down the ALT key and type in 0183; on Mac hold down the option key and press 8. Hope that helps!
