Marketing a small, at home business can be tough, because most of them don’t have large advertising budgets. Today, I’ll give you an alternative marketing idea. What is the absolute one thing that everyone in the world has? A birthday! So, I’ve come up with an easy way to market your business through wishing your Facebook friends a happy birthday. I can’t fully take credit for this idea, as I’ve seen some life coaches and motivational speakers using a similar tactic that I adapted for Silhouette or Cricut small businesses. Let’s look at this easy, free marketing idea:
What is the Idea?
Depending on what you make and sell with your Silhouette Cameo or Cricut Explore, you’ll make a sample product that says “Happy Birthday” on it. Be sure to watermark your photo. When your Facebook friend has a birthday, you’ll leave your birthday wishes along with the watermarked photo on their timeline. Your birthday wishes (and watermarked product photo) will be available for anyone who visits the birthday person’s Facebook wall.
Here’s a couple of examples:
If you make shirts and apparel, make a shirt that says “Happy Birthday” – and take a picture of yourself wearing it with a watermark on it. Post it to your friend’s Facebook wall on their birthday.
Bonus idea: If you’d like, you could take a short video of yourself popping a confetti popper or throwing glitter in the air while wearing your shirt. Boomerang might be a helpful app for you to use for a video.
Or, if you sell cards, make a birthday card, take a photo of it, watermark it, and share it on your friend’s Facebook wall on their birthday.
You aren’t limited to just birthdays, consider making products for anniversaries or other milestones as well.
