Yesterday, I talked about some of the cheapest businesses to start with your Silhouette or Cricut. It’s not surprising that the cheapest niches can sometimes be the most crowded. Let’s take a minute to look more into which niches are the most crowded. (Not sure about the whole ‘niche’ thing? Learn more here.)

Top 4 Overcrowded Silhouette and Cricut Niches

  1. Planner Stickers – On an Etsy search for “planner stickers”, we find over 348,000 listings already there. If you are planning to break into this niche, you’ve got a way to go to get to the top pages.
  2. SVG Cut Files – A quick search on Etsy for “SVG Cut Files” brings up over 443,000 cut file listings. I’d say that if you want to break into this crowded niche, you must have unique designs unlike others on the market already.
  3. Monogram Decals – On Etsy, there are over 63,000 listings for “monogram decal”. Hard to compete with those already established!
  4. Tumblers – A quick search of Etsy for “custom tumbler” brings up about 73,000 listings. That’s a lot of competition.

Moral of today’s post? Think outside the proverbial “box”. The most successful Silhouette and Cricut businesses I come across are the ones that are offering unique products or services. Don’t be afraid to be different – it’s quite profitable!

Maybe my niche could be "Crafts that come with dog hair!" Hahaha

I'll just stick to SVG files ????

Hi Christine, I'm hoping to start selling the actual die cuts of the cardstock rather than the cut files as so many people ask me for them. I'm in the UK rather than the US but I'm not finding much in the way of competition on the Facebook sites I am on for scrapbookers and planners etc. Just having a good look through your blog to see what tips I can pick up along the way. Thanks for sharing your advice.

Thank you for this valuable information. I am at the very beginning of trying to get a small craft business started and finding my "niche". This gives me a direction on where not to focus my product line. I'm so new to this all. Hoping to get things moving in a positive direction real soon. Your blog has helped tremendously. Thank you!! Sandy
