I always hate writing posts like this, because no one wants to read about the United States Postal Service (USPS) increasing shipping rates. Yesterday (August 28, 2016), the USPS increased shipping rates of First Class Mail Parcels weighing 1 to 3 ounces. Specifically, the rate increased about 7% from $2.45 to $2.62. For Silhouette and Cricut small business owners, this change is likely to affect only sellers of decals, small jewelry pieces, planner stickers, and small stationary orders. Be sure to update your listings to take into account this rate change. Good news: No other USPS rates have been changed.
Before you head out for the day – there’s one more thing that I want you to watch: The Postal Strike in Canada. Workers of the Canada Post have been in contract negotiations for months. At the end of last week, they issued their 72 notice to strike – beginning at 11:59pm on August 28th. You can expect packages going to Canada to be delayed during this strike time. If you ship to Canada, be sure to keep up to date at this link.
